Review: SplashPlex East Hanover, NJ

Thanks to the awesome people at Splashplex in East Hanover, NJ for inviting me to do a review. 

A part of Funplex, Splashplex opened in June 2012. It isn’t huge, but it’s fun-packed for the kids. It has 2 slides, elevated water blasters, and a water tower. The boys really enjoyed shooting water at each other with the blasters. Splashplex has great interactive play and certainly keeps the kids busy!

The water tower was my favorite part.  About every 4 minutes or so, a siren would ring and water would come out of the top like a fountain. Every time the kids heard the siren they would all yell, “Oh no! RUN!”

There is a zero-entry area (like entering from a beach) as well as a small pool at the end that goes up to 4’4″.

My 7-year-old said his favorite part was the “Kaboom”. It looks like those things you see on tv or in cartoons that you push down to set off a dynamite explosion. They would wait until someone walked over a specific spot a few feet away and press the handle down and send a blast of water would explode from underneath them.

Whether you want to sit or lay down and catch some rays, there is ample seating surrounding two sides. One side is covered for shade.

There are also tables to eat which are also covered so you can eat in the shade. If you have valuables and don’t want them to get wet or don’t want to keep them in your bag, they have lockers.

I liked the waterfall. It’s a great for a quick way to cool off.

The amount of lifeguards compared to the amount of people and size of the pool was great. I’d say there was more lifeguards than probably needed. Which, by the way, is NOT a complaint. More eyes is better than not enough eyes!

The kids and I agree, Splashplex is a great place to both relax and have fun. It was a great time with the kids. They really liked it and we all can’t wait to go back. Thanks Splashplex!
