How and When to Wear a Strapless Bra

It’s not Autumn yet! We can still bare our shoulders and backs! However, that also means that we still have the need for supportive strapless bras to provide firm hold while keeping chunky bra straps out of sight.

A strapless push up bra can enhance your cleavage, while adhesive bras work perfectly with backless dresses. Buying a strapless bra, however, is not the simplest process if you haven’t familiarized yourself with some quick and easy tips.

There are various options when purchasing a strapless bra. If it’s something you’re going to be wearing often as a dedicated strapless bra, get one – if you’re only going to wear it occasionally or want it for a specific occasion, go for a bra with removable straps so you can wear it normally when you want. These bras are often called multi-way bras and sometimes can be worn as halter necks as well. Before buying a strapless bra, which can be a costly investment, make sure you know your size perfectly. If you haven’t been measured in a while then go for one as soon as possible. Experts also recommend buying a size down when buying a strapless bra, so you know it won’t fall down when you’re wearing it.

There are more types of strapless bra than you may at first think, too. A bandeau bra has no underwire and is best for women with smaller breasts. An underwired bra will provide more support, with optional padding to give some extra oomph! Longline strapless bras, or basques, extend downwards covering both bosoms and waist, giving a smoother body shape. Finally, adhesive bras have no straps or bands – they are simple pads you attach to your breasts with a light, skin-friendly adhesive. These are ineffective with larger breasts, however, as they don’t provide much support. A good online store to find a wide range of strapless bras and cheap basques are www.mycurvesandme.com.

  1. Thanks for the info!!!

  2. Great reminder to get measurements….especially for strapless bras!

  3. I’m too busty for strapless bras. I had to do the corset for my wedding dress. It had sleeve–just a wide neckline.

  4. Good idea buying a size down :-)
