How to Have the Perfect Halloween (& Giveaway!)

I’m so excited to be a contributor for HERSHEY’S BOO BLVD!

I’ve been asked to post about How to Have the Perfect Halloween.

Everyone has their own idea of the perfect Halloween. To some it may be decorating, baking, or dressing up. For others it may be carving pumpkins or just the feeling the season gives them. For my family it’s all of the above!

When it gets chilly out, I love to light a fall scented candle when we bake or decorate. Pumpkin scented candles are great. I got a pecan pie scented one recently. It smelled awesome.

Carving pumpkins is something both adults and children love. This activity gets the whole family together.

When I was a kid, after the pumpkins were carved, I remember my mom always cleaning the seeds and toasting them. I haven’t really done that with my kids. Maybe I will start that this year.

We love decorating for Halloween. It’s fun to put out pumpkins, scary monsters, tombstones with silly sayings on them, and cobwebs.

My 7-year-old loves dressing up for Halloween. This year my oldest will be 12 when Halloween comes around. I’m not sure how he will be with wanting to dress up.

I love baking. We got out the fall pot holders and made some Halloween cupcakes. Cute, right?

No matter how you celebrate, you can always add new traditions to make the perfect Halloween for you and your family. I think my new tradition is going to be picking our own pumpkins every year…if the price is frugal enough ;)

Giveaway

My awesome friends at HERSHEY’S love Halloween, too! They sent me some REESE’S PEANUT BUTTER CUPS with cute Autumn wrappers. (Thanks, guys!) They want to spread the love and are offering 20 (YES I said 20!) readers a bag of the same!

  119. Jaqulyn Culp says:

There is a family here that goes ALL out for Halloween, i do mean ALL out!!! We have been invited for years. They do this about the Saturday before Halloween.
I was able to enjoy trick-or-treating with a friend last year. She always has chili dogs before the kiddo head out (good thing with all the walking that they do). But I was able to give her directions and ideas for places we go. There is a house on probably the highest hill here, and its a bit of a rough and tough drive up there, but it is by far the best stop!! They have a special area inside the house that is decorated for the kids to stand in front of and get their pictures taken (they are then e-mailed to the parent with in a few days).
Our church also has a “Harvest Party” with so much fun, its hard to want to leave to go out and trick-or treat lol.
We do the school activity where the school puts on a “Math Spooktacular”. it is a great family event!! We all carve pumpkins and join in on various games. It is a week before Halloween.
Regardless of what we decide to do, one of the above, or all, my favorite part is when my daught, now 16, takes her little brother, now 9, out around our neighborhood to finish trick-or-treating. They are welcomed back home with hot cocoa and a nice warm and cozy fire! :)

  120. We always make a big pot of chili and cornbread to eat when we get back from trick or treating!

  121. Cindy Merrill says:

For Halloween, I always make molasses pocorn balls- grandkids just love to help, too!
